My son sold this and missed it. He re-bought it and he says it is a fun game even if he is a teenager now. He said he will keep it this time to play on a rainy day.

This game is great! My wonderful husband was so sweet and bought this for my birthday! So much fun!!!!!!! The game (and my husband) will be enjoyed for years to come.

Pikmin was the first game I ever wanted. Nintendo basicley owns some of the most important things in my life. After I saw the gamestop sale over the holidays, I bought three games which I plan to review later, this was one of my purchases. It was $40 doallars and worth every penny. Let's get into the specs.
Pros-
1.Great Gameplay.
The gameplay is very equivlent to alot of strategy games I've played. It's overhead and it makes you think about so much, forcing you to multi task. Now although there is no longer a "30 day" time limit, it is still pretty hard. It's much easier to get the pikmin too pick things up and attack enemies then it was in the first game.
2.Creativity
The creativity in this game is astounding. Just to come up with 1/8 of the items you collect in this game would have taken me either around 2 years, or a walk through a trash dump. All of the designs are flawless and the story is great, even though you are not timed in this one.
3.Music
Although it does loop, ALOT, this music is the kind that you don't really mind. It's the kind of tune that gets stuck in your head for years afterwards, and you'll only enjoy the past nostalgia.
4.Graphics
The graphics are great, even for now. There may be some pixelation along the edges but you'll have to excuse that after your 6+ hours of play-time. They really perfected there technique of sculpting them, then canning them in and animating them.

Cons-
1.Difficulty
The difficulty goes from very easy, to very hard. The caves add needed difficulty but it just may be too much, and some of the creatures are very hard to defete, more-so then in the original. Many times you will become frustrated at how many pikmin have died in a day. You either have to re-start the entire day, or live with the many deaths.
2.Pikmin varity
While the new pikmin are great, the fact that there are so many different types add to the frustration. There are so few places to get the purple and white pikmin, and you can only get a certain amount at each place. You will sometimes find that you need more of a certain color, like when your trying to destroy a wall with poisen under it, you need more white pikmin, or if you need to carry something very heavy you need more purple pikmin. If you have enough and you just don't have the needed amount with you, then you have to walk ALL the way back to the onions and get a few more out and if you simply don't have enough, you have to end the day and go to an area you know has a white or purple flower.

All in all, this is a great game. Frustrating at times, but aren't most good games?!! If you can find it, buy it.

I bought both games at once. The first game was short and easy to beat. With more types of pikmin and cave adventures, Pikmin 2 is a great sequel to the first game.

The Nintendo Gamecube brought new graphics to old franchises but also introduced newer titles with promising results. Pikmin along with its successor Pikmin 2 are generally loved by Nintendo fan-boys because of its strategic gameplay with lovable characters and well thought out environments. Pikmin 2 does not disappoint. This game is what childhood imagination wishes it could be, taking a human appearing alien that is smaller than everyday bottle caps befriending strange plant like creatures that will do his (your) bidding for any task. Innovative may be an over-exaggeration but it certainly stands out from the countless, typical adventure games. Pikmin 2 is definitely for those who appreciate the art direction as well as the creative gameplay. It might not exactly be what you call hardcore gaming but it is enjoyable for just about everyone.
