Not even close

Another year another sad attempt to beat out EA's NHL game. Yet again another failed attempt at creating a good hockey video game. The game lacks in many areas this year. The gameplay seems a step back from last years title and the controls are never simple enough to pick up on right away. The visuals are there but are ruined by the gameplay and strange animations. However, the few things that are there compared to NHL 2010 is a better faceoff animation, better sound, and the checking. The checking animations are more realistic than EA's game, which makes the gameplay a little funner. They always seem to have great ideas for the game but just can't perfect them. Hopefully one year they will be a tough competitor to EA, but not this year yet again. It may be worth buying if you really like hockey games, but DO NOT buy the game on release day. Don't spend more than $20 on this game. Not even close.

pretty good, what I expected from a hockey game

pretty good, very realistic looking when paired with my 46" tv, would definately reccomend to anyone looking for a great hockey game

Pretty Decent Game

This is a pretty good game. It's a step up from the years past in 2ksports NHL games, and it continues to get more realistic. I have it on PS3 and am pretty happy with my purchase. Graphics are of course, pretty stunning. The fighting isn't that good - two buttons, really?

Overall it is decent. Not perfect, but I don't know if any sports game ever will be. Definitely fun to play!

What changed in 9 years?

Used to play NHL2001(EA) alot...sometimes till morning with one of my friend...it was so much fun with some simple and solid features..
And about every year im trying demo version of NHL but the only thing i see is they make it more complicated with some unnecessary improvements (as NBA2k10) which is not being wanted by most players...

I believe if they simplify it again as it used to be, NHL will really pull much more players...Comparing to NBA,FIFA,PES and NFL sadly this hockey game is taking the last place...

Fun and enjoyable arcade hockey

For years I always found the NHL 2K series vastly superior to EA's NHL franchise, but lately since both have made the jump to the next-gen, EA's NHL has been coming out on top in terms of simulation-style hockey. That being said though, NHL 2K10 is still a fun and enjoyable hockey video game experience. There are plenty of play modes and customization options at your fingertips to keep you occupied for quite some time, and playing in itself is a smooth experience. Online play is buggy however, which is disappointing to be sure, but for the most part, NHL 2K10 is a great alternative to EA's franchise. That being said, if you've already taken the plunge with NHL 10, there really isn't any reason to take a dive in NHL 2K10, but if for some reason NHL 10 isn't your cup of tea, this is pretty much your only option otherwise.
