Description

Story
Left 4 Dead 2 is set at roughly the same time as the original – just after the outbreak that turned most of the population into various zombie mutants. Players assume the role of four new "Survivors," each with their own personality and new dialog. The game leads these "Survivors" through the southeastern region of the US - from Savannah, Georgia through the bayou country, and climaxing in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

Gameplay
Just as with the original Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2 is a first-person shooter which pits players against hordes of zombie-like enemies. As you would expect in a scenario where you are regularly surrounded by masses of the undead, it is very good thing to have plenty of help, as well as weapons at your disposal, and Left 4 Dead 2 has players covered on both accounts. The game features several multiplayer options including 2-8 player online and offline (via system link) support in several modes seen in the first game, including Campaign, Versus, and Survival, as well as the new Scavenge Mode. This new multiplayer option tasks players, in the role of survivors to find a limited number of fuel canisters hidden in a level in order to keep their individual generators going, while other players in the role of the infected try to stop them. In addition the game features very strong co-op play support, with 2-player support locally and 2-4 player support online.

The game features a wealth of melee weapons and additional items handy for battling enemies up-close and personal. Along with melee weapons seen in the first game, players can look forward to wielding new weapons like axes, chainsaws, frying pans, etc. Firearms are also available, but seeing as zombie fighting usually requires a little elbow grease, melee weapons are the mainstay. In addition, players can carry other useful items, including a variety of throwing weapons and several different kinds of support items, like flashlights to startle enemies and light the way in dark environments and healing items like first aid kit and defibrillator kits.

Introducing the AI Director 2.0, Left 4 Dead 2's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. Left 4 Dead Remade

This version of Left 4 Dead brings you through New Orleans in the south where they hadn't been informed about the zombie plague in the north. The government had called it a virus and asked that everyone that had the virus be quarantined and for everyone to wash their hands to stop the spread of the virus. As we all know, this doesn't help and the virus spreads quickly. We come into a new set of survivors that discovered what was happening and are fighting their way though the zombie infested New Orleans. The survivors unlike the last game have at their disposal a wide range of variation of the same old primary weapons (Assault Rifles, Shotguns, and Sniper Rifles) along with a grenade launcher. The secondary weapons have taken a new life of their own. They now have a desert eagle pistol, the original pistol, a chainsaw, and many melee weapons including fire ax's, katanas and guitars to name a few.

The game has a bile bomb to add to your grenade slot that acts like the boomer's vomit on anything it hits. It has a new med kit called the defibrillator, which can revive a dead teammate with half health which actually comes in handy in the new realism mode which has no respawns. The pain pills slot also has a new item called adrenaline. This makes everything you do faster, including helping your teammates up, and running faster then you can without.It also gives you a small health bonus.

Some of the new modes include Realism mode, which gets rid of the character identifiers that help you see teammates through walls. It increases damage and the number of shots it takes to take a zombie down, and gets rid of respawns. It also introduced a round based competetive gametype called scavange, where one team is survivors trying to gather as many cans of gas as they can, and the other team is special infected. The teams switch after the survivors get 16 cans, they run out of time, or they are eliminated by the zombies. Teams switch and the team with the most cans win the round.

There are also new infected including the spitter, jockey, and charger.

This game introduces a lot, and keeps to the original recipe that made it one of the best games ever. You don't need to play the first game to understand how to play the game, and the AI director will determine how difficult the game is at points based on factors i don't understand. The Director seems to hate me when i play and hammers me with constant waves and attrition on ammo, but when my buddy plays on the same profile, he seems to walk almost free... Guess the Director is vendictive...

Overall a great game. If you have the first, Scavanger mode alone makes this game worth it. If you don't have the first game, just buy this one, it is a blast.

Fun online shooter for you and your friends

Left for Dead 2 improves upon the first game but still remains primarily a good shooter for online multiplayer mode, with the single player campaign almost an afterthought. A good addition is being able to play as an "infected" in the multiplayer "versus" mode. Another good feature is the ability to play split screen online and hook up with another person (or people) playing splitscreen so you can populate all four characters on a team. It's nice to be able to play four players with only 2 Xbox 360s. Overall, a good game for the multiplayer enthusiast.

The Definition of Co-Op...DONE RIGHT

Left 4 Dead as a series has proven itself to do multiplayer right! First, let me say, L4D2 is NOT UNNECESSARY! Many people believe that Left 4 Dead 1 didn't need a sequel, or at least not so soon, BUT this game improves upon the first to an excellent degree. There's the same amount of zombie-slaying as in the first, if not more, and alot is unchanged. What is changed is EPIC! Melee weapons are added and a few new modes to try them out. Scavenge requires the team to collect gas cans to power a generator and realism is AMAZING!!! This game has little problem, if any, and there's no reason it should be missed.

Defenitly one to rent.

This game was a great game to play for about a week. After that it gets really boring, its a fast, quick storied game. I would say not to buy it, if you can rent it though it would be a great game. but in my personal opinion you would waste you money if you bought it. The storyline is exactly the same as the first, just new people in a new place. Besides that, there is almost no difference. I recommend this game highly for a week long rent, but not as a game to buy.

Fun, but too short

Great game for the Perfect Shot, but it is way too short. I beat it in an hour.
