Description

You can't quite afford that $10,000 show pony your daughter's pining for? This new game may be the next best thing. By using the arrow keys, you steer Barbie through five beautiful trails, winding through deserts, forests, caves and waterfalls. Barbie, a seasoned equestrian since Barb's Riding Club (4.5 stars, Jan '99 CSR) must solve a mystery of a prized horse that has disappeared. In order to crack the case, you must complete puzzles found in the train depot (move ramps to sort falling fruit), the riverside (fix a boat by matching shape outlines), or the prairie town (match lock combinations, and then play a bejeweled-style matching game. Riding activities include trotting, herding and jumping, feeding and grooming, and it is possible to dress Barbie and your horse. On the downside, there are some clunky aspects to the game play. For example, you can't ride Barbie off-trail, and she'll only dismount at certain places. All things considered, however, there's good replay value in the games, and a map makes it easy to jump from place to place to keep kids engaged. Combine those elements with the engaging logic puzzles and beautiful graphics, and this title is well worth the purchase. By Blue Monkey Studios. the mystery

The following review is by Miss isabella (6 yrs) one of the younger members of dream factory:
"hit the trails with barbie. to solve the mystery and return lucky, the missing horse in time for the championship show. get ready for the journey by selecting your horse brushing her mane and practicing your riding skills. then, head out on horseback to search for clues explore an abandoned campsite, an old town,a cave, and more. each clue leads you closer to the suspect as you unravel the secrets and locate lucky.

Parental comment: Yes this is a worth game. Allowing your child to use their reasoning and logic skills to maneuver around the fields of barbieland. All in the pursuit of finding and releasing Lucky the horse. Quite a challenge. And when the mission is finally completed - oh what a joy and pride of accomplishment. Highly recommended by the dream factory parental units.

Not that great

I have two daughters 4 & 6 that did not enjoy this game very much. They found it difficult to move around in certain scenes, was not very user friendly, and did not come with enough instruction on what you can and cannot do in each scene sequence. They tried playing with it 2-3 times and lost thier enthusiasm.

Great for 5-year olds

My 5-year old daughters have played this game for months, and they can't get enough. It took a little while for them to get used to the keyboard controls, but once they got the hang of it, they play this more than anything else. After "solving" the game countless times, they still love to dress up their horses and decorate the pavillion.

The puzzles are challenging enough to make them think but aren't so difficult that they get frustrated.

Fun for beginners!

My 4-1/2 year old got this for Christmas and she just loves it--so do I! It is quite cute with many mysteries to solve, it gives great early computer experience and has several games within. Of course it has the Barbie clothing changes, horse color changes etc. that add that fun Barbie touch that girls love. I thought the horse was very realistic, she gets on and off and jumps too! Great introduction and fun for the early "gamer"!

The good or the bad?

My mom got this for my sister for Christmas, and right away she wanted to play it. My mom got it, thinking that I could help her, since I LOVE horses. (I don't just love them, I LOVE LOVE them!) Riding through the trails, leaping over jumps, it's all good, but it was kinda easy. Okay, here's my reveiw:
THE RANCH: I liked herding the calves the best
THE FOREST: I personally liked herding the goats the best. The campsite is kind of boring, and so is the flower mill.
PRAIRIE TOWN: I liked this second best. Nestled in the canyons, Prairie town has only a few stores. I like the General store, because you get to herd the chicks back into their crate first. Other than that, the other things are okay.
DESERT GARDENS: I liked this too, because you get to race against a girl on a pretty grey/white horse! But that's all I like about it.
And at the end, Teresa, Lucky's owner, gives Barbie a special surprise; Luckys tiny foal! Although you can't ride her, you can brush her, feed her, and visit her anytime you'd like. You don't get to name her, so my sister and I called her Lucky Bellamey, Bell for short. After that, you can just ride around and have fun. I guess I think this game is more good than bad, but that might be because I LOVE LOVE horses!
