Description

Assassin’s Creed is the next-gen game developed by Ubisoft Montreal that will redefine the action genre. While other games claim to be next-gen with impressive graphics and physics, Assassin’s Creed merges technology, game design, theme, and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change.

The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict.

You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history.

Key Features

  • Be an Assassin: Master the skills, tactics, and weapons of history’s deadliest and most secretive clan of warriors. Plan your attacks, strike without mercy, and fight your way to escape.
  • Realistic and responsive environments: Crowds react to your moves and will either help or hinder you on your quests.
  • Action with a new dimension - total freedom: Eliminate your targets wherever, whenever, and however. Stalk your prey through richly detailed, historically accurate, open-ended environments. Scale buildings, mount horses, blend in with crowds. Do whatever it takes to achieve your objectives.
  • Relive the epic times of the Crusades: Assassin’s Creed immerses you in the realistic and historical Holy Land of the 12th century, featuring life-like graphics, ambience, and the subtle, yet detailed nuances of a living world.
  • Intense action rooted in reality: Experience heavy action blended with fluid and precise animations. Use a wide range of medieval weapons, and face your enemies in realistic swordfight duels.
  • Next-gen gameplay: The proprietary engine developed from the ground up for the next-gen console allows organic game design featuring open gameplay, intuitive control scheme, realistic interaction with environment, and a fluid, yet sharp, combat mechanic.

cool game

Not a bad game the story is interesting the graphics are cool and over all not a bad game I look forward to playing part two cause of it... It plays very much like Hitman only with a better hiding system to it.

Great Game a little too short but still a great game to play

the shipping was great it came right on time and it took my son 17 days to pass it. it was really easy because there are some things that you repeat, but sometime you do get into it and it really fun game if you like killing bad guys. So i rated a 4/5 I think it could been bit more better, but let see how part 2 is

Thanks for the tech demo, Ubisoft.

ASSASSIN'S CREED:

Gameplay Genre: Solo-Fighter/Realistic Platformer
Game Structure: Adventure
Theme: Historical Science Fiction

Presentation is slick - graphics, animation, and simulation are all top notch. The plot is well crafted, but suffers from a cliffhanger. The sound, on the other hand, is abysmal - I played this on a Klipsch HD1000 which revealed just how poor the original sound samples were. To top it off, most of the game's sounds are intrinsically unpleasant (people's moronic chatter in the streets, for example). The music is not balanced very well with the effects and sounds hollow - it's hard to tell the actual quality of the music.

The overall game design is very lacking. The progression of the game's structure is about as contoured as a brick and the tempo is like a 5-year old mashing C7 on an off-key piano for several hours.

The gameplay ranges from good to ridiculous, platforming is smooth and oftentimes entertaining (animations considered), but the fighting (combat) aspect is shallow and un-engaging.

If you plan on playing the second one, however, you're going to have to get through this. If you're not a collector just rent it - you can beat it in about 8-10 hours, side content ignored.

Repetitive gameplay

With all the mixed opinions about Assassin's Creed - some said they loved it, some said they thought it was repetitive. I decided to try it anyway. Well, I found it repetitive, and I don't really play it anymore. There are like 9 missions and in each mission, you need to accomplish the same set of objectives in a free-form fashion: you go around stealing from people, eavesdropping, fending off guards from citizens, collecting points from taking down "elite guards" that are littered around the world, and finally when you gather enough information you will proceed with assassinating the primary target for that mission.

The presentation - sound and graphics - are amazing. However, I would not rate the game purely on those aspects. I would recommend going for Assassin's Creed 2 directly (Skip AC 1), as I heard that game is much better.

am I missing something?

Is it my imagination, or is this game nothing more than a series of small tasks, one after the other?? It's not challenging, and the battle/fight sequences are boring. This was the third game I've ever played on PS3...in fact, I hadn't been a gamer since, truly, the 80's, so I don't hang myself out there as an expert on video games. I will say, though, that after having completed both of the Uncharted games--Drake's fortune and Among thieves--Assasin's creed can't even compare. Like the Uncharted games, Assasin's Creed II has great graphics. I like the historical information it provides as well....though I am looking for an adventure, not a history lesson.

So, overall, it is a disappointment and a snooze. Maybe it will get better as the game progresses, but because it's been so boring so far, I have a hard time mustering up the enthusiasm to keep going.
