A great sequel!

Most sequels dull in comparison to the originals, but I think this one lives up to its former.

The map editor is diverse, and you can customize it quite well. Although, the random maps seem a bit odd to me. They are generated quite sloppily, but it's a nice feature nonetheless.

However, the original will always have its place, I like it a little bit more; it seems more organized (the graphics in age of wonders 1 seem more polished). Although I'm not detracting from this game's quality, it should be on the shelf of everyone who played age of wonders 1.

Best game I have

I play this game 95% of my game time. With its map generator, and the web site Age of Wonders II Heaven to download maps etc. you can play new games.

Still a great game!

I've had this game for over 5 years now, and it's still very much one of my favorites. With the available mods, it stays fresh. One of the very best turn based strategy games out there, without a doubt.

Nice graphics but this game is a step backward

This game has spectatular graphics, but every other aspect of the game falls short. The gameplay takes FOREVER. It is turn-based but the incremental change in cities and hero levels changes extremely slowly. High level units cost a fortune and take several turns to be created. The economy is horrid. The only way to gain gold is via cities. No gold is given for kills. One of the biggest disappointments is that your main character is confined to your main city. The character's powers are amplified by the character's wizard tower. You cannot cast spells in battle if you are not with your hero or not at your tower.

Master of Magic returns!

I've been a gamer for a long time, and enjoyed the incredible game Master of Magic way back in the day. I've long since looked for a game that used the same formula: civilization building/economy/armies/and most importantly....SPELLS.

If you like strategy and blasting opponents with mystical creatures and spells, BUY THIS GAME.

Basically it's Civilization for the fantasy minded.
