A workout and fun

This is the awesomest game for exercise and fun. My husband and I are active, healthy people (he's a runner) and we get exhausted and sore playing this. It's an almost full body workout that pushes you (unlike Wii Fit.) The first weekend we got it, we played all weekend until we beat the game. We were limping around the next week. We have continued playing it as a workout for the past two years when the weather outside is bad or just would rather have a different type of workout.

Great game, great workout

My daughter has been playing it since we got it a month ago. She seems to have forgotten all the other games as this one really fits her usual style, got her all body parts moving and jumping on and off the mat. It does create noise to a level which initially I thought was from construction work outside my home. Along with the fun, I'm sure it is a great workout as my daughter often ends up sweat a lot.

A FAMILY FAVORITE

I purchased this for family game night and it's been a favorite for over a year now. We have two young boys and the skill level works for the whole family. This game is easy to set up and instruction on how to attach the pad to your Wii is included. Step by step instructions are provided for each challenge onscreen which makes it convenient. I'm a big fan of not having to read an instruction booklet from cover to cover especially when it's a thick booklet. From first opening the box, this game was ready to play within 5 minutes.

You start out with just three challenges - running and jumping, whack-a-mole and kayaking. Not only is this game fun to play but it's fun to be a spectator as well. Some of the moves necessary to play make for much giggling. It is not too difficult to move forward which is a huge plus when you have young kids. It's also a great way to keep active. I love that it lets the participant set the pace. The challenges have requirements to pass but the bar is set low. You can try to set record scores if you are more competitive. I liked how you could be competitive without leaving younger kids behind.

It's a great way of getting everyone out of their seats to play a video game and highlights the beauty of the Wii. I found myself tired after playing some of the challenges and expected my kids to complain but I cry "uncle" before they do when playing. Although this game is not on the same level as a EA Sports Active, it could be used as part of an exercise routine as it makes you work out but in a fun way. You will break a sweat as you try to set new records.

This game is a bargain at the price. This is not one of those video games that ends up on the shelf but you will need some shelf space to store it. I highly recommend this game for all ages.

Good way to get off the couch

I am over 60, fell down a flight of stairs and shattered my elbow and needed something to get me off the couch. I started with wii tennis to help my arm, but Outdoor Challenge games are much better for the arm and for the bod. I do agree the graphics could and should be much better, but the challenges activate the body and get me moving. Up and down and sideways, even helps with bending over and balance, and I am loving the cardio. It is the second step in a series of steps to get me back in shape again. I do not have problems hitting the arrows on the mat as some people said, I thought they were very easy, but agree it is a small area for two adults to use.

Probably more for older children

As previous reviewers have already stated, it's a really fun game and probably more designed for school age children. Mine are pre-schoolers and even though they love the games, it is very hard for them to stay on the correct spots, while coordinating everything else. However, this is a matter of practice and they can figure that out in time. The distances on the mat are also a little wider for their little feet/legs, so it often means actually leaving their middle squares (which is often the main navigation/speed area) to do the extras and then lose momentum.

However, all the above would not really bother them all that much if it wasn't for the absolutely despondent looking Mii at the end of a game. For some reason the preset ranking mixes adults and children and even when the kids did a great job (for their level) on the game, they get D and E ratings, with a very sad Mii shaking it's hanging head, representing them.
My children (4) for one don't understand why anything they do on this game would make this little "person" so sad. To be honest, neither do I. It seems quite unnecessary and overdone.

They have never been against trying again or trying to do better on any activity games we have, but the whole sad thing seems to really throw them and makes the game a somewhat unpleasant experience for us all. The games became about if we upset the Mii or not rather than having fun with the game.

I brought it out again today, after almost a year of not playing it, thinking that maybe we are a year older and it might work better for us, but it came down to the same thing. I have not found a way to kick out the pre-set scoring (woman/man/child etc,) so if anyone knows how, please let me know. Deleting the personal data doesn't seem to do it.

So even though I have no issues with the game itself (in fact I rather like them!) and I can see how this could be very fun for us to play as a whole family, even with our children still so young, we won't be able to use it until the kids are older and not as upset by the sad Mii.

A fun way to get exercise.

This is a wonderful game. Fun by yourself or with others. Great to play with kids of all ages. Recommend.

Fun workout

I don't mind letting the kids play video games, if they choose Outdoor Challenge. It keeps them moving and leaves me out of breath. They have fun. My son loves the competitive games, my daughter likes Mine Cart Adventure (team play).

My only beef with it is that the instructions for each game are rather sparse, so it isn't always clear how to score points and win.

great workout

Great game! Several minutes into the game and you will sweat like crazy ( even with a person rarely sweat like me )! I just start playing with it 20 minutes yesterday and my calf sore today. Wonderful workout! Definately/highly recommend it!!!

Fun way to exercise

I was amazed at how much my heart rate increased after playing this game for 35-45 minutes. It's fun and a good work out at the same time. I am not saying that this should replace regular exercise; rather, it's a great addition to your regular exercise routine.

fun for the whole family.

I play the workout mode and I get my 32 mins daily or 1 hr 4 times a week.Than the things I DONT' LIKE is the pad it slips alot so I put a foam on the bottom with tape so,the kids won't slip off either.

I like the sprint running and jump rope and the pipe slider.

I could care less of the others..theres still alot to unlock.I need soemthing mroe for adults for fitness so,I combine this with stepping workout and the wii personal fitness trainer.

HAVE FUN!

it came in huge box and it was all messed up the box from the fed ex but I got all the parts and in plastic and I got the so called used verison and it looks new.
