The Mac Action Games collection defines action five different ways to deliver a package that contains a little something for everyone. While these games may be a bit older, this high-value bundle allows an experienced gamer to collect some hard-to-find classics, and a novice to experiment with different genres at minimal risk.

Leading the charge is the first-person action and adventure of "Marathon 2: Durandal." The "Marathon" series introduced the notion of both aim and plot being important to shooter games, and "Durandal" is the highpoint of the trilogy.

If you prefer fast cars over fast guns, "Al Unser Jr. Arcade Racing" gives you a taste of Indy driving, coin-op style. You can race the 15 tracks competitively or in time trials. "Full Tilt Pinball" represents a different arcade experience: pirate-, space-, and fantasy-themed pinball tables each offer challenging ramp and bumper layouts. The "Vegas Casino!" collection of six slot machines, two poker variations (draw and deuces wild), keno, and blackjack is fairly basic, but it works well, and the in-game bank machine is cute. Lastly, one of the few armored combat games available for the Mac, "Mechwarrior 2," offers a thrilling warrior experience in a highly developed futuristic universe. --Jack Gardiner
