Description

Featuring 16 of the best leagues and more than 75 national teams, 2002 FIFA World Cup brings the game of the world to your fingertips. You will execute curling corner kicks, awesome slide tackles, shots from the top of the box, crunching challenges, and palm-wringing penalty kicks.

Among the major enhancements to this version is the passing system--the core of any real soccer (football) game. It now emulates the same decisions made in a real match. Gamers can place the ball anywhere on the field of play, resulting in an immensely increased repertoire of developing plays. Teammates now make long up-field runs, diagonal runs through the midfield, and streaks across the back of an opponent's defense. They'll call for the ball as they break, letting you know to pass to the space ahead of them.

EA Sports also totally rewrote the AI. The AI now searches for space and key weaknesses in your team's positioning, and will make off-the-ball runs or build up intelligent passing plays before striking a precise through ball behind your last line. Depending on the difficulty level, the AI will create a much more interesting and challenging opponent than in previous versions.

I am surprised there isn't a zero stars option!

I love playing sports games, but this is the most boring game I have ever played in my entire lifetime. I only did one soccer game, and I turned it off within five minutes. Trust me, don't waste your money on this dumb video game!

Don't waste your money!

THIS GAME IS NO GOOD! The case lies and shows that there is neat graphics for the game when actually it is a blur! The people are really fuzzy. The action is sluggish and the people move slowly. The introduction is cool but unfortunately that is the best part...it all goes downhill from there. Don't waste your money on this game. EA can do better than this!

Only so much to improve but...

EA is the leader in sports related games. With Madden and their soccor games they have truly led the way in the team sports market of video games. Their soccer games have been great, but have remained basically the same for the last 3 years. This version actually attempts, but fails in adding that extra something. The shooting is absurd, the longer you hold the button the stronger the kick. This makes no sense...you can physically kick harder with a swift boot, not rev-up and slow down. As usual the goal-keeping in EA soccer games is terrible. You have little to no control a goalie...it is a real bummer.

Nothing new here, just the same material released the previous 3-5 years.

EA [disappoints]!!!

This game is simply terrible for a number of reasons. 20 stadiums--the only difference you notice is the ads on the sideline (some stadiums have more McDonnalds ads, while others emphasize adidas and yahoo). You can only play with groups that are predetermined. So if you play with England, you will always start out with the same group, over and over and over again. The only extra teams available are not even in the top ten group (Holland is not there altogether, for example). The commentaries are 80% directly from FIFA 2002, which are 80% from FIFA 2001. The graphics and gameplay is likewise. Playing on the highest difficulty setting, I won the world cup with Tunisia on the first try. The computer oppenent had 5 red cards. As a matter of fact, I have not played a game without any red cards yet--red cards punishing AI. Furthermore, the developers have no concenpt of advantage play. Most of the goals scored were penalty shots. It's not fun winning 5-1 when the five goals are scored by penalties. AI will attack you as soon as you enter the penalty area and get a red card. Free kicks stink--you can never make a decent effort. No effort was put into this game. I would not spend a dollar on the game if I could play it in advance. It seems that EA produced this game overnight, without putting any efforts into it. If they had a grain of honesty, they would have included the world cup in FIFA 2002. I was very opptimistic when I purchased the game, and a day later, I could not be more disappointed. EA should be ashamed of this indecency.

Awesome

Best game ever. It has the grooviest moves and supreme action. If you are a socccer fan then get this game. Even if you want to p[lay a few hours. This is your dream game.Get It.
